The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013

On April 17, 2013, in the United States Senate “Gang of Eight” introuduced S.744, the Senate version of the immigration reform bill proposed in congress. The bill was introduced by Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and co-sponsored by the other “Gang of Eight” U.S. Senators.

The Senate Judiciary Committee held hearings on the bill on April 19 and on 22-23, 2013. The Senate Committee on Homaland Security and Govermental Afairs held a hearing on the bill on May 7, 2013. On the Judiciary Committee the bill’s Mark up began on May 9, 2013. On the committe the bill was voted out on May 21, 2013 and is set to be move to the Senate in June.
